The November moon over Western NY in 1999 matched the crayon in our box set labeled blood red perfectly. Blood red is really a valid shade of red. We were struck that the moon stayed blood red for such a long period of time, since it is rare for atmospheric conditions to be stable, especially in Western NY. The joke is, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."
