Smatterings: Disconnected

MS Explorer

Go to Tools on top of your browser. Click on the heading labeled Internet Options. Click on Connections tab.

On some versions there is a box that says auto disconnect when idle. Click on this box to un-check it. Click on th OK button. Your problem may be solved.

If this option either does not exist or is set correctly this is worth trying while you search for a better Internet Service Provider.

The problem is your internet service provider thinks you abandoned your computer and forgot you were on the internet. Your service provider means well. He or she is just trying to keep quick and reliable access to the world wide web. However, if you are reading a story or playing cards at Yahoo, you will need this one.

Your service provider knows; the more people using the internet, the slower everything works. Remember to disconnect from the internet when you are finished using it.

You may want to temporarily download and install some freeware.

Keep it alive is an easy to use freeware utility. It may help keep you from going crazy from being disconnected every time your reading something on the internet.

If this is the first program that you have ever downloaded, you need an zip file utility to open this file, once it is on your hard drive. A link to download my favorite unzipping utility is located on the top of my Webpage Authoring Software page.
