The Forth of July

We celebrate the signing of the Declaration declaring the independence of the United States of America from England.

the fourth of July

We look forward to watching the parade. We listen to the music of the bands marching by. Politicians walk through the crowd introducing themselves. Fire trucks blow off their sirens. Kids collect the candy thrown out from passing floats.

After the parade we mull around the carnival for awhile. People throw softballs at a target in hopes of releasing a booby trap that will send the volunteer plummeting into a tub of water. Men yell "Step right up! It only costs a dollar to play." We look at the brightly colored stuffed animals hung in rows as we walk by.

People line up in front of the concessions stands, waiting to purchase chocolate covered bananas, barbecued chicken, caramel coated apples, sausages, and hot-dogs. We head back to the car and head home to start our own barbecue.
