Smatterings: Backgrounds
Photographs and Other Complex Pictures
My problem is that I like complicated backgrounds. A photograph is a good
example. However, when I check my site with another computer I find I can
not read my web page easily.
What good is a web page if you loose the
content?
-
Increasing the font size solved the problem on some of my pages.
-
Finding a font color that contrasted with all the other
colors in my background worked well on other pages. The degree of difficulty
is directly dependent on the number of colors in the original graphic.
-
| Making a tables around the text and choosing a plain background color
is another solution. |
-
What works well as wall paper on your desktop does not always work well as
a background for your web page. The difference is on your desktop all your
information is either an icon for a short cut or a program in a box.
Icons for short cuts are visually equivalent to graphic links on a web page. The
program in a box is visually equivalent to a table with a solid background
color for text.
-
Lightening the graphic with a graphics editor sometimes works too.
